Nicky Nook Charity Walk and Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge 2017

Nicky Nook Charity Walk

JOIN US ON OUR FAMILY FRIENDLY CHARITY WALK ON SUNDAY 19TH MARCH 2017 IN THE BEAUTIFUL BOWLAND FELLS - BETWEEN PRESTON AND LANCASTER

Nicky Nook with its cheeky name this delightful fell overlooking the M6 at Scorton has been a popular viewpoint for generations of Sunday
strollers from Preston, Lancaster and Blackpool. Though not particularly high at 215m, its location, between the Bowland Fells and the wide expanse of the Fylde, makes it a superb platform reached with comparatively little effort. Add to this lovely Grizedale and you have all the ingredients of a most satisfying walk.

The walk has been organised with Eldon Primary School in Preston and other walkers are welcome. Other Schools and clubs who would like to bring a group would be welcome. Walkers must be fit enough to walk for at least 2 hours.

The walk begins and ends at The Barn in Scorton.

If you are prepared to raise sponsorship there are a number of options available to you to collect the money. Our preferred option and the one which is safest and quickest is through the online fundraising service at: https://mydonate.bt.com/events/nickynoo2017/413150.

Once created, you can share this with your friends and colleagues via email, social networking or word of mouth and sponsorship is securely collected, messages written and fundraising totals shown through your unique fundraising page.

Alternatively you can use the sponsorship form available and arrange to personally collect sponsorship from each sponsor after the event and send us the money.

THE CHALLENGE

A 25 mile circular challenge walk, the Three Peaks of Yorkshire will start and finish at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, visiting the three highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen-y-ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m) - in that order. The total distance is just less than 25 miles.

Although walkers will often not be too far from civilisation, this long walk is still demanding. Runners will be invited to start with the walkers and make their own pace. The total climb is some 5,200 feet, and the footpaths can be very wet and boggy in some places, rugged and rocky in others. Some sections are on fast country roads.
