"Yorkshire Three Peaks" Charity Walk

A 25 mile circular challenge walk, the Three Peaks of Yorkshire will start and finish at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, visiting the three highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen-y-ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m) - in that order. The total distance is just less than 25 miles.

Athough walkers will often not be too far from civilisation, this long walk is still demanding, and as it is not a way marked route walkers will be guided by a leader and a back marker. Runners will be invited to start with the walkers and make their own pace. The total climb is some 5,200 feet, and the footpaths can be very wet and boggy in some places, rugged and rocky in others. Some sections are on fast country roads.

MEETING PLACE – the corner of the Pay and Display car park at Horton-in-Ribblesdale – public toilets are available on the car park. Parking is available in a field close by.

CHECK POINTS where volunteers will be waiting to serve you with delicious home made food and provide hot and cold drinks at the following two places:

  • One - Ribblehead viaduct between Pen-y-ghent and Whernside
  • Two - The barn at base of Whernside between Whernside and Ingleborough

Look out for the stall with signs with the Abaseen Foundation Logo.

Transport will be available at the two check points to take anyone back to the start when you have completed enough peaks to satisfy your appetite!!!
