Three Peaks Challenge 2008

A big thank you to everybody who took part or helped with this event. Well, what an event! Whilst it was unfortunate that we had to abandon the event for some people at Whernside I would like to thank those who made that decision (not an easy thing) as the safety of everybody is paramount in those situations.

CONGRATULATIONS...

...to everyone who achieved two peaks – the first to arrive at Whernside did this in 6 hours 55 minutes and the last to arrive at Whernside did this in 7 hours 20 minutes. You will be able to work out that at this pace, if the weather conditions had been better; you all had the potential to finish the Three Peaks in less than 12 hours.

WHAT NEXT?

We have had a number of requests over the weekend from people who would like another opportunity this summer if possible to complete the walk. In response we have decided to offer the following:

On a Saturday in July or August (date to be confirmed in the next few days) we will arrange to take the people round the Three Peaks who would like to have another try this year and were not able to complete on Saturday due to the weather. Please let me know if you would like to be included and I will be in touch.

We already have a list of people for next year and again if you are interested please let me know and I will keep you informed about arrangements for next year.

We would like you to consider something else, the event continues to grow and each year and consequently more support is required. We are intending to form a Planning Committee to plan all the logistics in advance and if you can spare some time to help please could you let me know.

SPONSORSHIP

You will be pleased to know that the total amounr of sponsorship raised for the event this year (2008) was £2,284 and this should come to over £2,500 when we submit our Gift Aid claim in a few months time. This is a massive amount to have raised so thanks to all involved and we hope to see you at the event again next year!
