Noor Model School Annual Prize Day

Abaseen Foundation is running NMS for the disadvantaged children of brick kiln area about 35 km south of Peshawar since January 2009. Annual day of Girls and Boys sections of NMS was planned to be held on 29 March, 2011 after the exams and end of academic session. Parents of students and other people of the area were invited to witness prizes being given to position holders and other activities presented by the students. Mr. Sabir Hussain Awan was invited as a Chief Guest on this occasion.

The function started with the recitation from the Holy Quran followed by Naat-e-Rasool. It lasted for two hours in which students from all grades presented speeches, parodies and poems in English, Urdu and Pashto in a well organized manner. Girls’ students’ participation was particularly very attractive and it got special appreciation from the guests as well as from their parents.

Dr. Mukhtiar Zaman, Chief Executive of Abaseen Foundation explained the significance of education by giving practical examples from the area. He said we need to change the entire shape of the brick kiln society through education and that is precisely the reason for setting up NMS which is expected  to bring such a change.

He further said that AF was highly committed to fulfill its pledge to continue with the project and construction of two new class rooms for the coming session invalidate the common perception of withdrawal from the project.

Finally the Chief Guest, Mr Sabir Awan, Ex-Member National Assembly was invited to talk to the audience. During his speech he said that he was highly impressed with the welfare activities of AF and the personal efforts of Brig (R) Gulman S Afridi and Dr. Mukhtiar Zaman. He appreciated Dr. Mukhtiar Zaman for successfully running Emergency Satellite Hospital Nahaqi and his special attention towards Health and Education . He asked local community, parents and notables from the area to take part and offer their moral, social and financial support to AF to make these projects run successfully and bring prosperity to the area.

After the address of the chief guest price distribution ceremony took place for the position holders of year 2011 final examination. Chief Guest not only distributed prizes among the top two position holders of each class but also awarded special gifts of Shawl, Chadar and traditional hat to their parents.

In the end Brig (R) Gulman S Afridi thanked community members and parents for their participation and keen interest in this educational related activity. He congratulated the position holders and advised all to work hard and get better results next time. He thanked the chief guest for sparing his precious time and participating in the annual event of Noor Model School.
