STAFF across the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are being asked to give their support to the people of Pakistan who are currently living through the aftermath of devastating floods.
A number of fundraising events are going on across the Trust to help the flood victims and so far more than £440 has been raised.
The money will be donated to the Abaseen Foundation UK, a Lancashire-based charity that is working with the Abaseen Foundation Pakistan to provide aid to the victims of the floods.
Chairman, Beverly Lester, said: “I am sure you have all seen the tragic news footage of floods in Pakistan and I feel strongly that we must do all we can to assist in this desperate situation.
“We have raised over £440 to date and it would be marvellous if we could raise £1,000. You can donate on-line by clicking on the relevant news item on the Latest News section of the Intranet page. Please give it serious consideration; we have so much and they have so little.’’
Mr Javed, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who has links with ths charity said: “It will be great if people would support the cause for the people of Pakistan.
“The Abaseen Foundation has an active UK website containing live and current information. The foundation is not only raising funds for the flood victims but also for the animals as they are the livelihood of the people. ‘’
Kathy Ancell, Fundraising Manager, who has led the Trust’s charitable efforts, said: “Staff and visitors have been very generous. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Donations have a direct and immediate impact, helping the affected communities cope with the devastation. With greater long-term issues yet to be faced, support is still needed, so please continue to do what you can to help.”
If you haven’t had a chance to donate, staff can now do so via a secure link from the Trust’s intranet page. Staff are reminded that open internet access is between 12noon – 2pm and 5pm-7pm each day.
Alternatively, look out for the collection boxes that have been placed in Oliver’s restaurant (Blackpool Victoria Hospital), Rendezvous (HPEC) and Fragle’s (Cardiac Centre).
To donate by cheque, please make your cheque payable to ‘The Abaseen Foundation UK’ and either hand deliver it to the Fundraising & Voluntary Services Office at Blackpool Victoria.
A special charity evening has been arranged for Saturday, September 11th at the Bowling Green Pub in Lancaster with all members of staff invited to attend. Tickets for the evening, which features a top local band, are priced at £15 with all proceeds going to the Abaseen Foundation.
